Main Responsibilities
Responsible for quality of medical care provided to NBU patients during their stay at MSF Women Hospital under the supervision of the Pediatrician supervisor and in close collaboration with the expatriate technical referent.
Hospital admission
Carry out patients admissions according to MSF acceptance criteria and re-orientate the out of criteria patients
Work in close collaboration with other departments, ensuring the good transfer of patients to other units
Respect MSF Guidelines and Protocols for prescription of investigations and treatment if required
General care in NBU
Prescribe the care and treatments required according to MSF guidelines and clinical protocols and ensure the correct application of prescriptions
Ensure the rational use of medicines
Keep the hospitalization forms up to date
Prepare all documentation for discharge and referral
Newborn Care
Complete new-born assessment on each baby delivered in Women Hospital prior to discharge
Recognize abnormalities and/or deteriorating condition
Attend the delivery room or OT in difficult deliveries to be ready to offer neonatal care including resuscitation
Admit babies to NBU according to MSF criteria and protocol and identify new-borns requiring referral according to MSF referral criteria and participates in facilitating the referral
Informs mothers and fathers about the illness of her baby and explains the treatment required
Other
Participate in on-going personnel training (care techniques, updating protocols, etc.)
Participate in weekly training sessions, proposing and presenting topics
Participate in the medical data collection
